The Beauty of Being Latinx

The Beauty of Being Latinx

Selected and curated by BIPOC jury and feature by "Nashville Design Week” Sept 2020.

Brief

These posters reflect the American Dream for Immigrants who are Latinxs and are living in this country; who came to this country to get a better life. However, life in this country is hard because of the different cultures, language barriers, and lifestyles. The “American Dream” in these posters not only reflects the big dream that Latinxs people have, but it also reflects the ups and downs that they have to experience in this country. There are no laws that protect them or encourage them to be legal. Reshaping design in these posters communicates the importance of immigrants in this country. Immigrants get the job done in any aspect. Being an immigrant in this country can be overwhelming, frustrating, and sad. “The American Dream” is more like a fact than a term. It is a complex experience that 60 million Latinxs in the United States are living every day. It affects how they live, work, and think. Immigration is inevitable and beautiful at the same time.

PS: The (x) suffix replaces the standard (o/a) ending of nouns and adjectives that are typical of grammatical gender in Spanish.

After these posters were featured and selected by “Nashville Design Week”. I decided to take these posters to another level designing 3 more posters and then design a newspaper with my story about being an immigrant in this country and how this affects my life.
